How can you obtain Turkish citizenship?

Below, we outline the minimum requirements for obtaining Turkish citizenship, according to the type of investment.

The minimum investment required to obtain Turkish citizenship through real estate investment is US$400,000.
This is after the investment value was reduced from US$1 million to the current amount mentioned, and the condition is that the property cannot be sold for 3 years.
Turkish law stipulates that the minimum bank deposit is $500,000, reduced from $3 million.
The deposit must be held for three years.
The minimum requirement has also decreased from employing 100 Turks to 50 Turks.
Therefore, the best, most successful, and fastest way is through property purchase, as the process of obtaining citizenship and a passport takes no more than three months.
Stages of naturalization in Türkiye
We are following up on your naturalization file, which goes through the following stages:
- The application registration and approval stage with the Turkish government.
- Sending the file to the relevant public authorities for review.
- The initial review stage, followed by a comprehensive review, archiving, and transfer of the file for evaluation.
- Transferring the file to the naturalization lists for approval by the Turkish Prime Ministry.
- The final stage is the government’s decision on the application.
Documents required to obtain Turkish citizenship
- Passport translation into Turkish, and notarization in Turkey for all family members: husband, wife, and children under 18.
- A copy of the title deed (Tapu) for the purchased property.
- A valid property appraisal report (valid for 3 months).
- Original payment receipts from the buyer’s account, stamped by the sending bank.
- Original receipts from the seller’s account, stamped by the receiving bank.
- Two copies of the power of attorney for the citizenship application.
Note: All documents issued from the country of origin (outside of Turkey) must be notarized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country and by the Turkish embassy in that country, including birth certificates, civil status certificates, and criminal record certificates.

- Can I buy a property in installments to apply for Turkish citizenship?
Only payments made towards the property’s value will be considered; any outstanding installments or mortgages will not be included. Therefore, the total value of payments made must exceed $400,000 to be eligible for Turkish citizenship through a property purchased on an installment plan.
- If I obtain Turkish citizenship after purchasing the property, will my wife and children also obtain Turkish citizenship with me?
Yes, the wife and children under 18 years of age obtain Turkish citizenship when applying within the same file as the property owner, and you can retain both citizenships. There are no requirements related to giving up your original citizenship when obtaining Turkish citizenship.
